As in our last UK trips, our touring would cover a large
part of Great Britain, much to the amazement of many Brits we met. For
Americans, though, it was not so far - England, for example, is almost
exactly the same size as the State of New York. Traveling in Great Britain
takes getting used to that way - although it turns out that an American
sense of distance isn't much help in estimating travel. While the absolute
distance from London to Cardiff, for example, is roughly the same as from
Syracuse to Buffalo, once you leave the Motorways the travel time becomes
much longer - especially in Wales and Scotland.
The map at left shows our path, more or less, from
London to the Jamborette in Blair Atholl.
